This past week Larry Davidson of Lost Horizons (one of this country’s great nurseries) ?came in to the garden and talked me into making it more see-through. ?Well what a difference removing a couple of limbs of the Viburnum ‘Summer Snowflake’ has made. I’m still getting used to it and I think I like it a lot. ?I had already whacked back the Physocarpus ‘Diabolo’ so that the wonderful Salix candida (the intensely silver tree on the left) could be seen. ?Every one of these divas of the garden now has a chance to shine. ?Here’s what the garden looks like this week:
More stuff is coming out, more stuff is going in. And in a couple of weeks GARDEN DESIGN magazine is coming in to photograph it. So now I know what it’s like to have done to me what I’ve been doing to other people for decades: ?shooting their garden for a magazine story. ?Fun though. ?I’d be this drastic in what I’m hauling if only for myself. I love changing the garden, and I’d be doing this all the time. Good thing I’m working on a book or there’d be nothing safe out there.
