More survival tips
- Parker sets stone troughs against the sheltering wall of the house and covers them with plastic; dwarf yucca and barberries have all survived with this treatment.
- He places pots containing succulents on and under a chair, and covers the whole lot with a plastic chair cover from the dollar store.
- Plants in ceramic containers can be sunk in their pots in the ground, as many bonsai growers do. Parker has only a few ceramic pots but finds they winter over safely above ground if covered with plastic to prevent damaging freeze-thaw cycles.
